Ecovillages
Many people now are in the process of creating or moving to ecovillages because they have found modern industrial society to be unsatisfying and unsustainable. Ecovillages provide excellent working examples of creative, sustainable alternatives to the unsustainable ways of living that are inherent to our current design and development patterns.
At OPOA, we believe we need to promote the development of as many ecovillages as possible, but also realize that it will be difficult or unnecessary for everyone to pack up their belongings and move to an ecovillage. In any case, we will have to follow the non-materialistic, self-sufficient, community-based example that ecovillages are now setting for us.
One effective way to create Ecovillages in the coming times may be by building them in conjunction with Bioregional Colleges.
